I am using Osiris 4.2.3 with multiple windows servers.
Recently the drive that has the log files for Osiris filled up with data
from another application.
I fixed that application and deleted the data it created.
Shortly after that occured, several of my Osiris client systems started
giving the message:
The scheduler was unable to initiate the following scan:
host: mysystem.my.domain.edu
scheduled scan time: Thu Sep 27 22:30:08 2007
The scheduler produced the following error message:
cannot start scan, currently scanning.
--- end message
Osirisd has used incredible amount of processor time. (like days)
I have tried the following with no success:
1. did a init-host
the scan starts but never finishes
2. uninstalled osiris from the client, rebooted, reinstalled, and
did an init-host
When I did this the osirisd scan engine began, but the
IO counters are not increasing as I would expect of a scanner.
Osirisd is essentially consuming 100% of the cpu time.
On this system I am using the default.Windowsserver2003. I am having the
same problems on some other systems with customized config files.
This system is running Windows 2003 Enterprise edition with all the
current patches.
In addition, this system is also running McAfee VirusScan 8.5i with dat
5129.
Has anyone seen this problem before?
Does anyone know of a possible solution or strategy to find the cause.
System event logs do no indicate anything that would seem to indicate a
problem.
