<p class=MsoNormal>I am using Osiris 4.2.3 with multiple windows servers.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Recently the drive that has the log files for Osiris filled
up with data from another application.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>I fixed that application and deleted the data it created.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Shortly after that occured, several of my Osiris client
systems started giving the message:<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>The scheduler was unable to initiate the following scan:<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>host: mysystem.my.domain.edu<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>scheduled scan time: Thu Sep 27 22:30:08 2007<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>The scheduler produced the following error message:<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>cannot start scan, currently scanning.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>--- end message<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Osirisd has used incredible amount of processor time. (like
days)<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>I have tried the following with no success:<o:p></o:p></p>

osiris from the client, rebooted, reinstalled, and did an init-host<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal> When
I did this the osirisd scan engine began, but the IO counters are not
increasing as I would expect of a scanner.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal> Osirisd
is essentially consuming 100% of the cpu time.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>On this system I am using the default.Windowsserver2003. I
am having the same problems on some other systems with customized config files.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>This system is running Windows 2003 Enterprise edition with
all the current patches.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>In addition, this system is also running McAfee VirusScan
8.5i with dat 5129.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Has anyone seen this problem before?<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Does anyone know of a possible solution or strategy to find
the cause.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>System event logs do no indicate anything that would seem to
indicate a problem.<o:p></o:p></p>
