WPA_Supplicant not scanning the AP

Hi,

By performing the following I have atleast got the association done for few seconds: Below are the settings which were not done before

iwconfig ath0 frag 512 rts 40 rate 36M auto
iwpriv ath0 protmode 0 wpa 1
iwpriv ath0 keymgtalgs 2 hostroaming 1 dropunencrypted 0 authmode 6

Following is the dump after running the wpa_supplicant command. But I would like to know 2 things:
1] Can we extend the time for which it remains associated? If yes how and what is the settings that I have missed?
2] Why is the WPA still mentioning no AP found while there were 2 APs in the network already? Is there any internal timer set for scanning and association?

Please help me with the issue
