Your info is not correct.  I have secsessfully bridged eth0 and wlan0 
with wlan0 in managed mode.

My config was:

/3com EatherLink III LAN PC Card (10 BaseT PCMCIA Card)
Teletronix PRISM 2.5 WLAN Card (100mW Cardbus Card)
Linux 2.6.5
HostAP 0.1.3
/
I can send my .config apon request.
