AP-Selection

Hi,

This is a little strange to me...

We have some AP's here in the office, from which my notebook can see
four with signal strengts from -88 db to -50 db.

/etc/modutils/aliases contains this line:
options ipw2100 ifname=wlan%d associate=0 mode=0

I use wpa_supplicant 0.2.5 and ipw2100-1.0.1

When i start the interface with this command sequence,

modprobe ipw2100
ifconfig wlan0 0.0.0.0 up
wpa_supplicant ....
dhclient wlan0

it will connect to the weakest AP and wpa_cli reassiciate will never
reacc to a better one. And after four minutes or earlier, the connection
transfers no more data but does not drop and reconnect.

When i start the interface with this command sequence,

modprobe ipw2100
iwconfig wlan0 ap 00:0F:34:3B:DD:10
ifconfig wlan0 0.0.0.0 up
wpa_supplicant ....
dhclient wlan0

it connects to the best AP but not the one i gave to the iwconfig
command.

When i do wpa_cli reassociate, it uses the weakest AP again.

If i correctly understand the comment in wpa_supplicant.conf, it should
allways associate to the strongest AP.
