SecureRemote/AOL - Proprietary TCP/IP Stacks?

This should be true with any VPN Clients out there.  AOL Dial Up is a
proprietary design, and to my knowledge, is only privy to AOL only.  No
APIs are available from AOL.  Correct me if I'm wrong on this.
