James,

You mention the 'NAT server' a few times. Exactly what is it? Does it
support IPSec? Depending on what it is, this box may be able to terminate
one end of your VPN.

Scott.

Subject: [VPN] satellite office

William Heague
Hi all.
We've recently opened a small new satellite office. I intend to connect the
4 workstations we have there to the server at our main office via VPN,
but...
Since it is such a small office, I was wondering about just setting each
workstation up as an individual remote client, rather that purchasing more
hardware to provide a VPN server for the whole office.
Q1. is this a really bad idea for reasons that I can't immediately see?
Q2. will the MS vpn client work from behind a NATing internet server?
Q3. If I were to set up a VPN server for the office, could I run, say
freeswan from behind the NAT server?
cheers & TIA,

-James
