I'm reading KB articles from Microsoft and CISCO to find out how to
configure a Exchange server sitting at DMZ interface.

Depends on what kind of communications you want to permit.  If you're
talking about full-fledged Outlook client connections, you have to make
registry changes to make the ports static:

Otherwise, you just need to make whatever ports available you need to for
the services you need to provide, such as SMTP, POP, or IMAP.  These are
standard port numbers.
