Negotiate Magic Number

           In configuring several firewall, I have run into the option of
Negotiate Magic Number on a yes or no basis. I understand from my research
that this has
           several different functions, as well as appearing to be checksum
of sorts with an IP address. (algorithm). However I have not come to a clear
understanding
           with my research at RFC's and would love to have a clear
understanding and definition.
