Basic Architecture

This newbie needs help.  I have a new branch office I would like to get back
to our hq to provide access to our DEC Alpha Server.  This box runs
proprietary software on top of the OpenVMS OS.  This branch has their own
client-server network in place with a DSL connection to their ISP.  They do
not need access to our PDC or exchange server.

A friend tells me I should get a Netopia R9100 router for my side of the
connection.  Another tells me I will need part or all of a T-1 line to
connect this router to the web (DSL not available in our area).  I will then
need a public IP address so this branch and others in the future will have a
target to connect to.

Is this the best solution or is there a better and maybe less expensive way
to give this branch access to the DEC?  Any and all help is greatly
appreciated!
