That's a good point.  I guess Microsoft gets to muck about with the
protocol and do cute things to get it to work.

I asked Cisco about such things.. I was trying to "bridge" across an IP
net.  They said no.  I believe the L2 part of L2TP refers to it being a
layer 2 transport.  I.e. it will carry layer 3 stuff, but not other layer
2.
