VPN across two networks

First of, as I am very new to VPNs this may be a dumb question, and the
answer may well be "hidden" in all the resources I've found so far, so I'll
offer my apologies in advance 8-)
We have the following situation -
* our group's main LAN is 'hidden' behind a firewall on Network U
* Network U is connected to the rest of the world
* Network T and Network U are connected via a router/firewall
* we have a worker with a PC connected to Network T
+--+
+------+ |PC|
|Server| +--+
+--+---+ +--------+ |
| +----------+ |Router/ | |
-----+------| Firewall |------------|Firewall|-----+----
'secure' +----------+ Network +--------+ Network
network 'U' 'T'
We need to set up secure access between our worker's PC on Network T and
our server on Network U. Can a VPN run easily across multiple protected
networks like this or would it be a complicated thing to set up? (I'm
assuming for the moment that there are no 'bureaucratic' obstacles in the
way ... 8-)
Thanks
