opportunistic routers?

Hi Steve,

Are many of the router vendors doing much in the way of "dynamic
configuration" these days? Since many corporate firewalls have a router
that guards the perimeter of the company's "domain" and a (proxy-based)
firewall that examines the data more closely as traffic enters the
corporate intranet, I was wondering whether or not anyone was using
firewalls to recognize "brute force"denial of service attacks (Pingflood,
Synflood, etc) and dynamically reconfiguring the external router to reject
these packets(assuming they keep some sort of recognizable "signature",
like the same source IP address, for example).

Thanks, and best rgds
