It occurred to me that the majority on this list are from the metro DC
area, so it seems apropos to mention this here.
The Washington DC BSD conference takes place February 5-6 2009 at the
Marriott Wardman. That's right, it basically leads right into ShmooCon.
If you're a fan of UNIX and/or FOSS, this is a good place to catch some
great UNIX talks. We've announced a number of speakers already on our
blog...
Marshall Kirk McKusick, BSD developer, creator of FFS
Henning Brauer, OpenBSD/PF developer
Chris Buechler, pfSense founder
Ted Unangst, OpenBSD developer
Brooks Davis, FreeBSD developer
Kristaps Dzonsons, creator of sysjail and mult for NetBSD/OpenBSD
One of the ShmooCon Labs gurus will also be giving a talk on their use
of BSD in the ShmooCon network infrastructure. Oh, and if you enjoy
Richard Bejtlich's talks... well, I'm not ready to announce that yet.
;)
More details, including the BSDA certification exams and the SysAdmin
Challenge, are available on the conference website. Registration is
only $75 for the 2-day event. And because we're affiliated with
ShmooCon (thanks Bruce and Heidi!) we get the benefit of their hotel
group rates.
