Ah, okay. That explains everything. I did change the permissions myself,
not realizing that the osirismd process was running under diminished
privileges. Thank you for clarifying.

On a related note: I saw some posts from 2005 indicating that in the 4.0
release you wanted to have the ability to keep a certain number of past
datababses, rather than the all-or-nothing approach I see. Was that
feature never implemented?
