Your solution seems to have fixed the problem, I had to remove the current db and then do an init and I was able to get a scan to complete. However the following day they failed again, further searching I found a bunch of __#.db I removed those files did a manual start-scan and they all completed. Today they all ran perfectly on their own.

I have seen a similar problem.
Run a strace on the osirismd processes.
You will probably see a never ending loop of it attempting to open up a scan
database. The fix for this is to stop the scan, delete that db file and
then restart the scan.
