What version of Osiris is the client running?  What OS?  What version is 
the MD running and OS?  Are IPTables installed anywhere?  I assume this 
is just a simple private network through a single switch?  Is 
192.168.1.2 anywhere in /etc/hosts?  Try running a tcpdump on both 
client/MD before the initialization to see if any packets are actually 
going out to the client.  Also, are there any useful messages in /var/log?
