[Osiris-devel]daemon stress testing

Any suggestions for what to use to test the stability of a publicly 
accessible daemon, especially one run suid?  Aside from arming myself 
with perl and netcat, I'm not aware of anything specific that I can use.

I'm interested in some sort of tool that would make it easy to conduct 
testing the scanning daemon and management daemon against various types 
of malicious attacks, including intelligent attacks at the osiris 
message protocol level, and generic DOS attempts.
