[Osiris-devel]non-printable characters

I'm adjusting scale so that the report file shows filenames that are 
expanded to show non-printable characters ( e.g. "/tmp/my<ctrl-h>file" 
would be "/tmp/my\010file"  ).

It seems clearer, plus, things like "/bin/p\010erl" catch your eye vs. what 
is currently printed: "/bin/perl".

Any objections, suggestions?
