RTL8192cu kernel modules doesn't work or doesn't work properly as an AP.
I have the exact same thing.

You need to use this kernel module:
https://github.com/robertalks/rt8192cu

or from:

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PFid=48&Level=5&Conn=4&ProdID=274&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true#2742

If you download from realtek website u'll have the kernel modules also
and hostapd for the rt8192cu (it's special :)).

I use the github version (kernel modules only) because is my repo :) and
it has some things disabled by default.
