how to automatically select channel as an AP

 madwifi will automatically select a channel as an AP being started, how to realize this? by any means, thanx!

For example I'm doing with OpenWrt the latest trunk but seems hostapdis taking over this job and unfinished? or to modify/etc/config/wireless configuration file?
