No SSID after switching to AP mode

Hi all. I recently attempted to use Hostap, along with the Ath5k driver to put
my AR5212-based card into AP mode, after having used Madwifi for quite some
time. However, I am running into a rather interesting problem. After Hostap puts
my device into Master mode, and I run Iwconfig wlan0, there appears to be no
SSID set, even though I have one specified in Hostap.conf. Here is output from
both Hostap and Iwconfig:
Configuration file: /etc/hostap.conf
Using interface wlan0 with hwaddr 00:15:6d:54:1f:db and ssid 'bla123'

At this point, I know I should have an SSID of bla123 set, but this is not so:
wlan0     IEEE 802.11abg  Mode:Master  Frequency:2.417 GHz  Tx-Power=20 dBm
          Retry  long limit:7   RTS thr:off   Fragment thr:off
          Encryption key:C454-E1BA-C142-215F-5CE4-3FA0-8BE6-99CC [3]
          Power Management:off
          Link Quality:0  Signal level:0  Noise level:0
          Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0  Invalid misc:0   Missed beacon:0

I thought that possibly the SSID could be getting sent regardless of what
Iwconfig output in the beacon frames; however, none of the other wireless
clients I have access to here (second laptop, IPhone, etc) could find my
access point. Does anyone have any pointers as to where I should look, to
attempt to figure out why no SSID is being set as part of the initialization
process? Hostap itself manages to notice that an SSID is present though:

Here is my hostap.conf:
interface=wlan0
driver=nl80211
ssid=bla123
hw_mode=g
channel=2
logger_syslog=0
logger_syslog_level=0
logger_stdout=1
wpa=2
wpa_passphrase=testpassword
wpa_key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
wpa_pairwise=TKIP

wpa_group_rekey=600

I am using a 2.6.31.4 kernel, LibNL-2.0 from GGit, and Hostap pulled up to
commit 08d38568df4b5c36997c5b2615064979fb89b16f. Thanks!
