WDS Bridging

Hi,

I am trying for WPA-PSK on WDS link with madwifi driver.

I tried a setup like this

Client ----(Wireless)---------- AP(Enabled 4 address frame) ------(Wireless)------- STA(Enabled 4 address frame) ---------(Wired)------- PC

and i was able to ping from Client to PC. and in sniffer i was able to see 4 address format in the packets between AP and STA.

If this setup works, I think i can easily apply WPA-PSK on WDS link with wpa_supplicant and hostapd.

Can somebody explain why then we are going for Repeater Mode (WDS mode) between WDS links?
What is the actual advantage of the Repeater mode with respect to this setup?
