wpa connects and disconnects

Usually because the driver decides that it no longer has an association
with the AP.  You might want to put debugging information into the
driver to determine why the driver sends the SIOCGIWAP events with a
blank MAC address (meaning a disconnection event), which will provide
further insight into why this behavior is happening.
