Hi! now I understand something more of what is happening, it's very very
strange! If I boot with the LAN cable in, the wired interface (eth1)
connects and it works (like always).. more, the driver hostap and
hostap_pci are loaded regularly and
dmesg | grep hostap
hostap_crypt: registered algorithm 'NULL'
hostap_pci: 0.2.6 - 2004-12-25 (Jouni Malinen <jkmaline at cc.hut.fi>)
hostap_pci: Registered netdevice wifi0

but the wlan0 interface seems to do not exist
ifconfig wlan0 up
wlan0: unknown interface: No such device

Instead if I boot without the net-cable in, if i do lsmod, i see that
hostap and hostap_pci are loaded, but

[root at localhost rob]# dmesg | grep hostap
hostap_crypt: registered algorithm 'NULL'
hostap_pci: 0.2.6 - 2004-12-25 (Jouni Malinen <jkmaline at cc.hut.fi>)
  [<f8e00fa4>] prism2_pci_probe+0x14/0x310 [hostap_pci]
  [<f8839030>] init_prism2_pci+0x30/0x32 [hostap_pci]
hostap_pci: Registered netdevice wifi0
hostap_pci: Initialization failed
hostap_pci: hardware initialization failed

and the mouse move very slowly, all the system is very strange, if i try
to plug the cable in and connect eth1 it doesn't work, i have to turn
off and reboot..
and also in this case the wlan0 interface seems to do not exist
ifconfig wlan0 up
wlan0: unknown interface: No such device

i'm getting very confused, before it worked!! i mean, before the driver
was loaded and it was ok.. then it failed in connecting with the router,
but now it seems there are problems in the beginning, in loading the
driver.. and it seems there is a connection with the wired interface,
that uses a completely different driver and that has always worked
perfectly..!

any ideas? thanx a lot!
Rob
