At the time, you weren't trying to do anything with smartcards, but you
were getting compile errors (IIRC) in that part of the code.  Since you
didn't need support for smartcards then, it was easier to just disable
that whole area.

Now, it sounds like you've changed your mind and do need to use them, or
something?

In any case, that statement you quoted is correct -- *if* you don't need
smartcard support, then you can disable PCSC.
