Yes.  Hiding the SSID gives you _nothing_, as somebody could just sniff
out the SSID from the association process.

But rather than hacking around it in wpa_supplicant, perhaps you need a
higher level connection manager that understands hidden ssids, or at
least discovers them via scanning.
