Hi,
Thanks you M.Pavel Roskin you give me the trick. The SMC wifi card is now
working in master mode.

hereunder is the correct messsage when the computer boots :
ieee80211_crypt: registered algorithm 'NULL'
hostap_plx: 0.4.4-kernel (Jouni Malinen <jkmaline at cc.hut.fi>)
ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:01:0d.0[A] -> GSI 21 (level, low) -> IRQ 193
PLX9052 PCI/PCMCIA adapter: mem=0xfcfff000, plx_io=0x7080, irq=193,
pccard_io=0x7040
hostap_plx: CIS: 01 03 00 00 ff 17 ...
hostap_plx: invalid CIS data
hostap_plx: ignore_cis parameter set - ignoring errors during CIS verification
Prism2/2.5 PC Card detected in PLX9052 adapter
PLX_INTCSR=0x1063
PLX_CNTRL=0x180066d2 (Serial EEPROM present=1)
hostap_plx: Registered netdevice wifi0
prism2_hw_init: initialized in 188 ms
wifi0: NIC: id=0x8002 v1.0.0
wifi0: PRI: id=0x15 v0.3.0
wifi0: STA: id=0x1f v0.8.3
wifi0: defaulting to host-based encryption as a workaround for firmware bug in
Host AP mode WEP
wifi0: defaulting to bogus WDS frame as a workaround for firmware bug in Host AP
mode WDS
wifi0: registered netdevice wlan0

In /etc/modprobe.conf I put the following two lines :
options hostap_plx ignore_cis=1
alias wlan0 hostap_plx

and in the /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist the list given by M.Dan Williams.

Thanks a lot !
Best regards
Phil.
