hostapd is not kernel specific.  Any valid source rpm for hostapd should work.

You are only telling us your interpretation, but not the reasons for your
interpretation.  I could easily compile it for i386.  Since I'm not using
atrpms build system, I had to add this line to my ~/.rpmmacros file:

%atrelease()    %1.fc4
