hostap 0.4.7 with the 2.6.17 kernel

This card is based on prism chipset. In my kernel (2.6.17) this card is  
set to use orinoco. So, I needed to disable orinoco_cs, then to enable  
hostap_cs. Also, I added this card information into hostap_cs.config.
Then it worked. Thank you all for your time.
