That command is incorrect. It would either need to be "iwpriv wlan0
monitor_type 3" or if you are using old version of wireless extensions,
you may have to use the prism2_param script which would use
"prism2_param wlan0 monitor_type 3" command.

The command

iwpriv wlan0 monitor_type 3

outputs:


inferface doesn't accept private ioctl ...
monitor_type (8BE0): Invalid argument


but

iwpriv wlan0 monitor_type 2

appears to append the 64 byte AVS header, however I was sure that this
command implied the 144 byte prism header
