Making AP quite for some time

Hi,

I tried to search this but could not come to a definite conclusion.

This is my problem,

I have a hostAP interface in Master mode on which some clients are
associated. I want to transmit about 27 packets (takes about 300 msecs) from
a hostAP interface (in master mode) at a reduced power level. After this the
hostAP should be able to resume its normal AP operation. I want to avoid any
unnecessary handoff during this time.

>From the web here are some conclusions I have drawn,
1. I would have to somehow disable beacons transmissions during this time,
so that the clients do not get disassociated.
2. The clients would have to be informed that the AP is temporarily
unavailable (probably some kind of a power down mode)?

Kindly help. Thanks in advance.
Santosh.
