which firmware for wl200?

Hello all!

I've been looking for firmware for my compaq wl200 in this list but what
i found makes me suspicious - there's a firmware posted by pedro
estrela:

but when i try to update my card with it i get:

Incompatible interfaces:

unfortunately i don't really understand what this error message
means(resp. what variant=0/1 means) and if its harmfull, i'm afraid something could break if i force it.

i get the same results with S1010409.HEX mentioned in the second thread
above. should i try to force the upload with -if? and with which firmware?
i guess the newest firmware that supports my card is around version
1.4.9 - does the firmware have a lot of influence on security issues
like alternating wep-keys and authentification with radius? i've searched a while and was happy
to find an old prism-card and don't want to buy a senao for 60 Euros,
hope it will work with the 10 Euro "Elektronikschrott" i bought on ebay ;-)

any input/recommendations are appreciated!
