Can not control wireless driver after leaving wpa_supplicant

Just to confirm, I have the same issue.  I am using wpa_supplicant 0.3.4
+ madwifi on vanilla kernel 2.6.10.  After killing wpa_supplicant, I
can't use iwconfig to set up a connection, and in general the wifi gets
borked.  Have to reboot to fix things.
