Thank you Henrik, but sadly this doesn't cover my case. 

I don't get both a wifi0 and a wlan0 interface, I get only one of them
on each boot, and there seems to be no logic behind which one I get.
So if I were to (as the FAQ describes) assign IP etc. to wlan0, next
time I boot that interface might not exist.
