Detecting current version of hostap

Check to see if the card is in the pcmcia cardmanagers database. I had
the same problem with a senao card, and it was because the card was
unknown to the card manager.

Look for an entry in /var/log/messages that looks like this:

May 13 18:53:45 JohnJacobJinglehimer cardmgr[666]: unsupported card in socket 1

May 13 18:53:46 JohnJacobJinglehimer cardmgr[666]: product info: "3Com Corporation", "3C589", "TP/BNC LAN Card Ver. 2a", "000002"

May 13 18:53:46 JohnJacobJinglehimer cardmgr[666]: manfid: 0x0101, 0x0589 function: 6 (network)

If this is like this, edit /etc/pcmcia/config and add an entry for your
card.
