How to detect a "misflashed" card?

Is this before or after downloading a newer firmware into RAM? If before, then 
try to download the newer firmware into RAM and do another hostap_diag. If it 
this time shows something a little more sane, you should probably download the 
newer firmware into non-volatile mem (using the -f switch with prism2_srec).
