FYI:

You can now continue to use the CL6729 based wlan cards with the
superior hostap driver under the kernel 2.6.x (thanks to linux-pcmcia
people). The support for the CL6729 chip will be included in the
upcoming stock kernel 2.6.8 and has been already included in the FC2
kernel 2.6.7-1.494.2.2. Module name is pd6729. The CL6729 can be found
from the following produtcs:

* Prism2 PCI wlan cards with integrated Cirrus Logic (Basis
Communications) CL6729 PCI-to-PCMCIA bridge:

- Proxim harmony 802.11b PCI
- Compaq WL200
- Samsung Magiclan SWL-2000P
- LG LW1100P

And additionally

* Older laptops equipped with the CL6729 PCMCIA controller
* Some PC-card readers uses the CL6729 PCMCIA controller

Only thing you have to do is replace two lines in the pcmcia config file
(e.g. /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia)

 From (External pcmcia-cs package for 2.4.x):
PCIC=i82365
PCIC_OPTS="irq_mode=1"

To (New 2.6.x kernel driver):
PCIC=pd6729
PCIC_OPTS=
