I did restart, but still loads orinoco driver.

I restart the pcmcia services, and there is no hostap_cs in lsmod.

Yes exactly,

I have included output "cardctl ident" to the end of the hostap_cs.conf
file.
Then restarted the pcmcia services, still i see in iwconfig wlan0 is not
up.

>If not, please send 'cardctl ident'

  product info: "INTERSIL", "HFA384x/IEEE", "Version 01.02", ""
  manfid: 0x0156, 0x0002
  function: 6 (network)

The card is surecomm.

After all this , i still see the orinoco_cs.o module is loaded.
I compiled the hostap in another machine and tranfered hostap_cs.o
hostap.o modules to /lib/modules/2.4.18-14/pcmcia/ .
copied hostap_cs.conf to /etc/pcmcia
copied output of cardctl ident to teh end of hostap_cs.conf.

Please tell me what else shud i do ?
