Hard lock-up

Hi,

I've got a hostap box which will just lock solid from time to time.
Transferring lots of data is generally a sure fire way to kill it off
 - copying an iso generally does the trick.

The only thing I can see in the logs before the lockup is:

Apr 17 00:40:56 beastie wlan0: STA 00:02:2d:53:62:e5 TX rate lowered to 55
Apr 17 00:40:57 beastie wlan0: STA 00:02:2d:53:62:e5 TX rate raised to 110
Apr 17 00:41:03 beastie wlan0: STA 00:02:2d:53:62:e5 TX rate lowered to 55
Apr 17 00:41:03 beastie wlan0: STA 00:02:2d:53:62:e5 TX rate raised to 110
Apr 17 00:41:06 beastie wlan0: STA 00:02:2d:53:62:e5 TX rate lowered to 55
Apr 17 00:41:07 beastie wlan0: STA 00:02:2d:53:62:e5 TX rate raised to 110

The client reports the signal strength as about -55db so I'm not sure
why it's switching rate like this?

This has only happened since upgrading the AP cards firmware to 1.5.6,
however I think I moved from the old 2002 stable driver to a CVS one
at the same time so it could also be this. It seems as though other
people have reported problems with the new driver but not the old one.
I'll try an older version of the driver when I get a chance.

I'm currently running 0.0.1 (which suffers from the problem).

Is there anything I could do to help debug this some more?

Cheers,

Mike Saywell

PS - with regards to the autoamtic wds link issue I was having it seems I
was in error. I guess I must have manually removed deleted the wds link
or something, regardless the auto-linking seems to be working fine now. :)
